Matakanarama was born out of a deep belief in the power of community and shared experience.
In a world that often moves too fast and feels too distant, we seek to create a space where people could slow down, open up and connect face to face, heart to heart.
We pride ourselves on creating a space where authenticity and self expression is ignited in each individual, leading to collective bliss. We’re here to foster moments that are real – human connection at its purest form. Now we’re wielding this precious time of year, a pristine paddock, powerful performers and personalities like yourself to create exactly that.
New Year’s brings the single most tangible escape from our day to day, week to week worries. The only things that matter are squeezing the most fun and excitement out of each moment, one day at a time. This allows us to explore and lean all the way into different sides of ourselves.
Why can’t we tailor the environment in every way to maximise this outcome? Without commercial interests to cater to, we can break any industry norm we deem would work against this aim… Let’s strip away the needlessly stress-inducing, chaotic, painful aspects of the standard, and lean into the creative, humanising, relaxing, down-to-earth elements.
More than just music, this is a deliberate concoction of play, presence and freedom. Your job is to come and live life as we all know it should be. It’s about showing up as you are, being a part of something beautiful, and heading home fulfilled, connected, confident and refreshed.
Kaitiakitanga can be translated as guardianship, stewardship, or protection, especially of the environment and natural resources. It embodies the responsibility of caring for the land (whenua), sea (moana), and all living things, handed down through generations.
In Māori worldview, this isn’t just environmental management — it’s a deeply spiritual and relational role, often carried out by iwi (tribes), hapū (sub-tribes), or whānau (families), who act as kaitiaki (guardians) of a particular area.
