djawesomchillguy25 is a Tāmaki Makaurau-raised, Naarm based DJ, producer, and musician.
With a post-ironic internet presence and moniker that reads like a username pulled from the depths of the 2000’s Myspace era, djawesomechillguy25 doesn’t take himself too seriously - but he does take making tunes seriously. Cutting his teeth in Tāmaki Makaurau’s underground club scene before relocating to Naarm last year, he’s brought dynamic sets to clubs around the world from Aotearoa, to Naarm, to NYC, even securing co-signs from the likes of Zack Fox, AceMo, and DJ Swisha.
He draws inspiration from the likes of US club royalty such as DJ Godfather, Detroit in Effect & DJ Rashad, all the way to cult-favourite eccentric rap icons like Lil B & Chief Keef. His playful approach to production is as thoughtful as it is fun, where the spirit of classic 90s club meets 2010’s Internet.
Raw breaks, thumping club beats, grooving house rhythms, and breakneck basslines converge with memorable vocal samples, from freaky flipped ghettotech anthems to reimagined EDM bangers and distinctive takes on timeless hits.
He’s released projects under a handful of celebrated labels including Redline Records, Glass Half Full, Lerm Werld, AnGeLZ, Glitz Club, and more, collaborations with artists including DJ Bax, AndWahn, and dishwasher, with projects like “Werk It” EP, “YGB PACK”, and “freak-a-thon”.
dj awesomechillguy25 leaves pretentiousness at the door - bringing pure energy & fun back to the dance floor.
