Perhaps no other artist better represents the potential of young Kiwi talent in the global electronic sphere, so it was a no-brainer MESSIE was one of the first on our wishlist for this year.

Raised in Te Tairāwhiti spending years behind the drum kit, MESSIE’s rhythm-driven roots shaped her love of Breakbeat and Jungle. Developing out of the ever-producing music school at Massey University in Pōneke, her sets today seamlessly blends the likes of UK Funky, Baltimore/Jersey Club, Ghetto Tech, Footwork, and endless global club flavours.

At the very beginning of her rise to prominence, we skanked at a house party in Tāmaki packed full of people trying to catch a glimpse of her emerging magic. Fast forward just a year and half, and the Rama crew caught her shelling a standout set at peak time on the main stage of Strawberry Fields, probably the most highly regarded festival in Australia.

Spending a great chunk of that time in between touring the world’s most iconic clubs and festival stages including Fabric (London), Antidoto (Madrid), Lollapalooza (Berlin), AiaSound (Copenhagen), and All Points East (London), it's Rama’s turn to get MESSIE this December.
